// Overview

What we do

Lower units, trim systems, and steering components operate under constant load and direct exposure to saltwater. Salt buildup and corrosion can seize moving parts, weaken fasteners and fittings, damage seals and cables, and eventually cause complete system failure.

We service and repair lower units and gearcases, propellers, trim systems, and hydraulic or cable steering. Our work includes gear-lube and seal replacement, water-intrusion diagnostics, corrosion inspection and treatment, hydraulic repairs, system bleeding, and steering-cable replacement.

Catching these problems early helps prevent expensive repairs and keeps your boat shifting smoothly, trimming reliably, and steering with confidence.

Lower Unit & Gearcase

Protect the gears

Saltwater, impact damage, and old gear lube are hard on lower units. Milky oil, metal shavings, leaking seals, and corrosion are early signs of trouble. We inspect, service, repair, and rebuild lower units and gearcases before a small problem becomes a major repair.

Trim & Tilt Systems

Smooth operation

Saltwater corrosion, worn seals, and failing electrical or hydraulic components can cause an engine to raise or lower slowly, drift down, make unusual noises, or stop moving completely. We diagnose and repair trim-and-tilt systems before a small problem leaves your engine stuck in one position.

Steering Systems

Smooth, responsive control

Loose, stiff, or unresponsive steering makes a boat difficult and unsafe to handle. Hydraulic fluid leaks, worn seals, saltwater corrosion, and damaged cables or linkages can lead to partial or complete loss of control. We diagnose hydraulic and mechanical cable steering systems — including helm pumps, steering cylinders, SmartCylinder systems, tie bars, hoses, fittings, and steering cables — to restore precise, dependable steering.

// Process

How it works

01

Inspect

We inspect the gearcase, propeller, and steering for wear, damage, and fluid condition.

02

Diagnose

Testing pinpoints water intrusion, vibration sources, or steering faults precisely.

03

Service

We service or repair with correct parts, lubricants, and fluids to specification.

04

Verify

A run-up confirms smooth power delivery and a tight, responsive helm.

// FAQ

Common questions

How often should gear lube be changed?+
Typically once a year or at the manufacturer-recommended engine-hour interval, and immediately if water intrusion is suspected. Milky oil or metal particles can indicate seal, bearing, or internal gearcase damage.
Why won’t my outboard trim up or down?+
Common causes include a failed trim motor or pump, low hydraulic fluid, leaking seals, faulty relays or switches, corroded electrical connections, or a damaged trim cylinder. We test both the electrical and hydraulic sides of the system before replacing parts.
Why does my engine drift back down after trimming it up?+
This usually points to a hydraulic leak, worn cylinder seals, or an internal pump or valve problem. The system should be inspected before the leak worsens or the engine becomes stuck.
Why is my steering hard, loose, or locked?+
Possible causes include a seized steering cable, hydraulic-fluid loss, air in the system, corrosion, a binding steering cylinder or tie bar, or a failing helm pump. We inspect the complete system to identify the cause and restore safe operation.
Can you repair or replace hydraulic steering cylinders and SmartCylinder systems?+
Yes. We diagnose, repair, and replace hydraulic steering cylinders and SmartCylinder systems, including seals, hoses, fittings, helm pumps, and tie bars. We also replace mechanical steering cables and bleed and test the complete system after service.
